Critical Illness
If you require an assurance policy, you may be offered Critical Illness Cover. If the company is a member of the Association of British Insurers they must provide a minimum standard of cover. They must cover heart attack, cancer and stroke.
Different companies provide cover for different critical illnesses and if you do want this sort of cover you must read the small print on individual policies to see what you are covered for but in general the policy will probably cover ailments such as kidney failure, coma, paralysis, Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis to name just a few.
There are exclusions to certain policies which can make the policy void if not declared beforehand so it is important to read the policy carefully before signing on the dotted line. These may include hazardous sports and pastimes, HIV and Aids and failure to follow medical advice to name just a few.
